The Fort Unchagaon - Overview
'Splendid' is the word that instantly strikes us as we enter
the premises of the royal heritage hotel - Fort Unchagaon.
Historical records suggest that the present Raja Surendra Pal
Singh inherited Fort Unchagaon in 1927 at the tender age of
ten. Finding it amazingly fascinating, the Raja personally
supervised its renovation and maintenance. No wonder, we come
across such a fine blend of early 20th century Indian and
Colonial influences in its architecture!
The hotel is now equipped with every imaginable modern
amenity, making it a much loved weekend getaway for close
friends and relatives, who cherish a passion for the old
zamindari way of life.
The décor of this majestic fort reflects authentic
aristocracy in all its aspects. In the imposing white façade
of the Surya Mahal, the understated elegance of the living
rooms and the bedrooms has remained a way of life. Even the
billiards room, with its display of magnificent trophies, is
no exception.
The rooms and suites of Fort Unchagaon represent a curious
mix of the conventional and the contemporary. Keeping in tune
with the décor, the dining room is also a perfect
example of royal taste. Here, you can enjoy traditional Indian
cuisine and get transported to a world where you can feel
history conversing with you! |
