Press Release - River Lodge

Jim Corbett National Park reopens gates for wildlife enthusiasts

As the Jim Corbett National Park reopens its gates after the monsoon to welcome wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers, Leisure Hotels announces the opening of The Hideaway River Lodge, which is a camp of ten luxury tents and is an endeavour to provide an experience of the unadulterated wilderness of the Corbett National Park. Spread over 8 acres in a cluster of luxury tented accommodation (thatched roof - Swiss cottage tents) folded in the laps of nature and wildlife protected by solar fencing, Hideaway River Lodge is located on the periphery of the reserve forest by the banks of the Ramganga River. Its location makes Hideaway River Lodge an ideal getaway for those who want to be in close proximity to one of the natural wonders of the world, lush sub-tropical forests and the bountiful flora & avifauna.

The Bird Life in this wilderness is also very rich with more than 600 species inhabiting the Corbett National Park. Every flower truly enjoys the air that it breathes and the morning sun sets the hills on fire in rich vibrant hues. The rough rocky terrain and the land formations are unbelievable. The reserve truly offers a moving tribute to the nature lover and the photographer of the wild.

On the Ramganga River, one can also try and catch the "Mighty Mahseer" - the famous fresh water fighting fish. Fishing is only allowed on a "catch and release" basis. Equipment, tackle and expertise will be provided (on advance notice).

Entry to the lodge is through the Durgadevi Gate of the Corbett National Park and the drive to the Lodge is an interesting one, through dense Sal forests and takes about an hour from Leisure Hotel’s existing property, The Corbett Hideaway. The safaris at Hideaway River Lodge are organized by both Jeep & Elephant. The sojourn will also provide an opportunity to visit the highest point in Corbett National Park by jeep or visit the nearby CHAURS for game viewing on Elephant Back.
