Location & Access Corbett National Park is one
of the greatest national parks in Asia with over 1300 sq kms of
forests, hills and grasslands, fed by a frisky river. Its
proximity to Delhi and prolific wildlife makes Corbett Park one
of the major tourist destinations in India. Situated in the
heart of a thick forest, this amazing abode of nature stands
witness to the rich, rare and precious
wildlife biodiversity of India. The Corbett
National Park forms the perfect habitat of the tiger,
elephant, hog deer and many other species.
The elevation of the Jim Corbett
Park ranges between 400mts to 1210 mts. The
geographical area of the Park covers different types of
vegetation along its varied topography which comprise hilly and
riparian areas, temporary marshy depressions, plateaus and
ravines. The southwestern fringe of the park, marked by the
hydel dam of Kalagarh and the beautiful lake inside, has
remarkably enhanced the scenic beauty of the place. Many species
of water birds, both migrant and non-migrant, frequent its
waters. Tourists can also enjoy watching the crocodiles and the
long snouted fish-eating gharial sun basking on the sand banks.
Besides, the Ramganga River carries fattened Mahseer within its
fold, much to the angler’s delight!
